About CVMCS

Established in 2001, CVMCS is a public elementary school and part of the Eau Claire Area School District. It is overseen by a governance board and school board. The school follows the same district calendar, lunch and recess program, and standardized testing process as other schools. In addition to the WI DPI certification, teachers are trained in Montessori philosophy.

  • Mission Statement - To provide an innovative learning environment to the Eau Claire community that promotes the social, intellectual and emotional development of each child, based on the foundations and methods of Maria Montessori.
  • Vision Statement - To inspire and nurture the human spirit - one child at a time.

Enrollment Process

CVMCS is a public school and is open to all students. (We adhere to district policy regarding out-of-district enrollment.) There is no tuition, no test required, and no fee to apply. Applications are accepted starting September 1st in the year prior to the year you would like your child to attend. Apply by the end of January to be entered into the random admission lottery.

Grade Levels

Classrooms contain more than one grade level which helps develop social skills and encourages mentoring. This arrangement allows students to stay with the same teacher and peers for 2-3 years which develops a sense of community. Our school is separated into the following grade levels:
  • Children's House - 4K and 5K - Each child advances at his or her own pace through the curriculum with an individualized learning plan; there are no grades or comparison to other children. Teachers guide students in a peaceful and engaging atmosphere, carefully observing each child’s progress and introducing new lessons as appropriate. The 4k program is part of the Eau Claire School District and runs half day Monday-Friday.
  • Elementary 1 (E1) - First, Second and Third Grade - In this level, there is a greater emphasis on student ownership of work. Students plan their own work schedule and determine the order in which they will do the work.
  • Elementary 2 (E2) - Fourth and Fifth Grade - To help prepare students for the challenges of middle school, children are encouraged to be self-motivated and manage their workload and deadlines.
